During the winter you can ski at either Falls Creek or Mount Hotham as they are only an hour away and in summer bushwalking, horse riding and fishing are popular pastimes. Mt Buffalo National park is only a 40 minute drive where in winter you can do cross country skiing or tobogganing and in summer bush walking or swimming in the river The Lady Baths. Several wineries can be found within a short distance from Bright for example Feather Top winery, Michelini, Ringer Reef, Gapsted or Brown Brothers.

The area hosts many events and festivals: Autuamn & Spring Festival, 3 Peaks Challenge, La Fiera, Opera & movies in the Alps, Hot Rod Weekend, Chestnut Festival and much more.
